Straight answers, before you call.
The questions homeowners ask most, answered the way Mark would answer them on the phone. If yours is not here, call us. It is faster than a contact form anyway.
Pricing and project fit.
What does a project cost?
Every MRG project is custom, so pricing starts with a phone call and a site visit. You receive a detailed written quote within 48 hours of the visit, with clear pricing and a clear scope. As a guide, our projects start at $10,000.
Do you take small repairs or handyman jobs?
No. We focus on full renovations, additions, new build framing, custom millwork, and decks, with a minimum project size of $10,000. If your project fits that scale, you will get our full attention from the first call.
Is the quote really ready in 48 hours?
Yes. After the site visit, a detailed written quote is in your hands within 48 hours. Clear pricing, clear scope, and everything in writing so you can decide with confidence.
Will there be surprise costs?
Honest scopes and no surprises is how we work. Your written quote defines the work and the price. If the scope changes along the way, we discuss it with you and agree on it in writing before any additional work happens.
The process.
What happens when I call?
A real conversation with the person who will build your project. Tell us about the work, your goals, and your timeline. We arrange a site visit to see the space in person, and a written quote follows within 48 hours.
Do I need an architect before I call?
For additions and new builds, we frame from stamped architect plans, though we are happy to talk before your drawings are final. For kitchens, bathrooms, and custom millwork, Mark works out the design directly with you.
How far out are you booked?
It varies by season and project size, and we will tell you honestly on the first call. Decks book earliest, so winter calls get spring builds. The sooner you call, the more schedule options you have.
Can we live in the house during the work?
Almost always yes. We seal off the work area, keep a clean site, and treat the house as your home first and a job site second.
The work.
Who actually does the work?
Mark himself. The person who quotes your project is the person on site seeing it through, start to finish. Licensed plumbing and electrical trades are coordinated and supervised where the work requires them.
Where is the custom woodwork built?
In our shop in Nutley, NJ, then installed in your home. Building in the shop means tighter joinery, better finishing, and less time and dust in your house.
Can you match the existing trim in an older home?
Yes, it is a specialty. North Jersey is full of homes with original character, and we match profiles and blend new millwork into old houses so you cannot tell where one ends and the other begins.
What areas do you serve?
All eight North Jersey counties: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union, and Warren, from our home shop in Nutley. See the full town list on our Service Area page.
Trust and track record.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. MRG Construction is licensed and insured in New Jersey, HIC Reg. No. 13VH08814200.
How long has MRG been in business?
MRG Construction was founded in 2014 by Mark Gavigan, backed by more than 35 years of union trained, hands on experience in woodworking and construction.
Where can I see your work?
Our portfolio lives on Instagram at @mrg_constructionnj, updated as the work happens, and homeowners across New Jersey have rated us 5.0 on Google.
